Grove grandparents meet Silvan

Last weekend my folks came out from Missouri and stayed for a few days, and Silvan met his Grove grandparents for the first time. It was a good time for them to meet; at three weeks, Silvan was spending more and more time in his quiet alert state, interacting with people and looking at the world. My mother held him as much as she could, and I could hear her singing "you are my sunshine" to Silvan as she walked him around the garden. I think she was pretty smitten with him. My father cuddling him, as in this picture, looked a lot like old pictures of him holding me in the hospital soon after I was born. We went to see a noisy movie, which Silvan slept through in the sling, ate a lot of good food, and put an outside water spigot on the house. We had a white cake to celebrate Silvan's three week birthday.

We were all a little sad at this visit because my folks live some distance away. We're hoping to take some road trips to Missouri and Kansas when Silvan's a little hardier, and learns to like his car seat a little better.
