Silvan at two weeks

The first week after his birth, Silvan was acting pretty sleepy. This week, he's been waking up. We can begin to see what kind of person he may turn out to be-- he has a fastidious, dainty way of being and prefers to be kept tidy and comfortable. He is very confident about what he likes and dislikes. Also, he is very crabby. His punk rock aunt Faith has noted that, in his occasional happy-go-lucky aspect, he resembles his father, but in his crabby aspect he looks like a Grove. We only very rarely get to see the dimple in his left cheek.

Silvan is holding his head up on his own pretty frequently. His father and I suspect he is of near-genius intelligence, as a result. He is just beginning to notice the world, and is fascinated with light. He is beginning to grasp for things, and has noticed the mobile of voles that hangs above his changing table. He eats pretty much without ceasing, and has gained a pound over the past ten days.

I am learning to be more mobile and independent with Silvan in tow, now that Bruce has returned to work. I take him to town in my pickup truck, and walk him around in his sling. He is turning out to be an excellent (if crabby) companion.
